Ten Thousand Skies

Photo taken after a storm…

Our moods are like the sky, always slightly different.  Sometimes they are bright other times they are dark.

There are a thousand shades of gray let alone all the many colors making no sky or no day the same.

And this doesn’t even bring into account the clouds.  Some are fluffy with big white puffs.  Some are soft that can barely be seen at all.

And what about the sun passing by and the seasons?  Don’t they affect the sky as well?

So many things go into the making of a sky.  And this is the sky alone.

Then we have the “circumstances” that change it even more.  The circumstances are the trees, the buildings, or anything that shapes the horizon of the sky.

Unless you are in the middle of the ocean there is always something on the horizon, and even the ocean has swells and dips.

So no sky is the same when seeing.  No sky is the same when painting.  One person’s sky is not the same as another as they are looking at it from a different perspective.

Our moods are the same.  Some days there seems to be more joy or light poured into us than others.

We may wake feeling sunny and bright one day and gray and heavy the next.  Our feelings bring colors of hope or dark dread and despair.  Sometimes, but not always, this is because of “circumstances.”

Like the tree or tall building against the sky, we may have something beautiful or not that shapes our mood.  It can cut into it us making us feel happy or sad.

It might be something as slight and as a single weed, or a huge and dense wall that reaches past the sun blocking all of the vibrant light and color from our lives.

Or perhaps a single flower silhouetted across the landscape or the most beautiful mountain that takes your breath.

Ten thousand skies; ten thousand moods.  They constantly change and not just day to day but often from moment to moment.

What I’ve come to realize is that when we accept this change, embrace it even, the changing of the skies and the moods are gifts.  They are what lets us live life to the fullest.

And from the moment of birth until our death, we will experience one sky and one mood at a time.

I hope most of yours will be beautiful, but not all.  For it is in the darkest days that we grow the most so that we can appreciate the sunny ones even more.

Here is just a small sample of some of the skies I’ve been able to experience shown here in both my art and photography.. Hope you enjoy…

And as always, sending my best,

Connie
