Welcome to Feathered Friends Collection!

This collection is all about our bird friends, but also it’s about a new friendship between two women who are in love with the natural world and love creating images from that world.

My friend, Tina Etherton, loves photographing birds in their natural habitat. She is so patient, as one would have to be to sit tirelessly to get that perfect shot. Her photos are amazing and captivating.

I knew after seeing Tina’s gorgeous photos of her birds that I wanted to try and do them justice on the canvas, or in my case, gessobord. So here are eight paintings and photos together of this collaborative effort. I hope you enjoy.

Tina wrote a wonderful story of Beau and Bella and shared it with her facebook audience. It was such a sweet story from building a nest to empty nest. She kept us quite entertained for a few weeks there. Here is Bella coming in for a soft landing after a day of searching for nest materials. Below is my rendition of it. The Painting is a 12 X 9 Oils on Gessobord. It is titled, “Beau and Bella.”

I loved this picture of a cute little red breasted robin having a grand ole time in the bird bath. This one was a fun one to paint and I loved experimenting with the water drops. “Bath Time” is a little 5 X 5 Oil Painting on Gessobord.

Isn’t this gorgeous? I had to improvise with this one as this is my summer collection, I couldn’t very well have a bird in the snow. So I “cheated” a bit and changed the seasons. “I’m Right Here” is an 8X10 Oil Painting on Gessobord.

You’ve already seen one photo of Beau, but here is a close up of that sweet, well he kind of looks grumpy here, but hey, he has been a busy bird looking after Bella and her brood. “Sweet Little Beau” is a 5X5 Oil Painting on Gessobord. These small paintings like this one and “Bath Time” also look great on a stand, and will brighten up any shelf.

Talk about timing, Tina really nailed this one!! I’m calling this one, “Love is Providing.” I added some paint color to my box. ;) It’s an 8X8 Oil Painting on Gessobord. This one can also be framed or put on a stand.

This is so precious. Tina took this one at Conestee Nature Preserve. She captured these herons in the middle of their mating ritual. I just love the composition. This painting and the next two are painted a little differently than my normal wet on wet. I wanted to do in layers to capture a bit more detail. Much more labor intensive, but you can see the results are worth it. “Dance of the Herons” is the largest in this collection. 12X16 Oil Painting on Gessobord.

This guy is absolutely gorgeous! I don’t even know how Tina got close enough to capture his exquisite beauty. I will say, he was quite challenging to paint and I wondered if I should have even tried to tackle him, but I named this 11X14 painting simply, “Beautiful Blue Boy.”

The first time I saw this one it literally took my breath! It’s of baby swans sharing a meal together. It’s my favorite of the collection. I knew I had to try and paint it. This 9X12 Oil Painting is called, “Togetherness.”

I just want to thank Tina once again for her part in this. If you would like to order any of the photos, you can reach her HERE. Send her a friend request and/or Message. If you would like to order my paintings, you can find them in my SHOP . Whether or not you want to bring any of these photos or paintings into your home, I hope they have brought a smile to your face. Nature is an amazing gift to us all! Thank you for taking time out of your day to visit this Collection. Love, Tina & Connie.
